LAND AND FOREST

More than a home.

MAIN PLOT

The main house rests on dry sandy soil, surrounded by whispering pines and lichen opening directly to the northern shore of Lake Kätkäjärvi. This lake is your companion in every season – from crisp autumn reflections to the rhythmic crack of spring ice, from midnight summer swims to the first snowfall that settles in silence. One strip of forest land leads to a small wild pond, hidden in the heart of the woods.

LUSH FOREST AND SWAMP

Further into the forest, a second parcel of land stretches across richer, moister ground. The vegetation thickens, the colors deepen – a perfect spot for berry-picking, birdwatching, or building a quiet shelter in the trees.

The property includes significant unused building rights, allowing for potential expansion – for business purposes or other uses.

ISLAND ON SWEDISH BORDER

And then, there is Isosaari – a forest island in the Muonio River, with roughly one hectare of land at its southern tip.
It’s remote, modest, and full of charm. A simple wilderness hut stands there, not in great shape, but full of potential. It could be transformed into a lean-to, a fire pit, a secret retreat – a place you reach by boat in summer, or by skis or snowmobile when the river freezes.

Lake Kätkäjärvi

For a Finn, a clean lake is more than a view – it’s a source of life, peace and freedom. Lake Kätkäjärvi is spring-fed, clear-watered, and quiet. The shoreline of the property includes a sandy-bottom swimming area, a private dock, and access to all-season activities on the water.

In summer, the lake invites swimming, paddleboarding, canoeing, and peaceful rowing in the golden midnight sun. In winter, it becomes a canvas for skiing, snowshoeing, and ice fishing.

Fishing is both tradition and recreation here. The lake holds pike, perch, whitefish and vendace – and thanks to Finland’s Everyman’s Rights, fishing with a rod and line is permitted freely. For net fishing or other methods, a local permit is easily obtained.

And yes – the water is clean enough to drink.
